Motorcycle riding

While still at school I became crazy about motorcycles. In Ukraine we can get driver’s license at 16. I was getting ready to get one and to buy a motorcycle. Actually as a schoolboy the huber of motorcycles available at that time in Ukraine for a student with a small budget was limited. My ultimate dream was 125cm3 Minsk from Belarus.

My friend had a far better option – 350cm3 Jawa

I had some savings and was about to spend them on Minsk as Jawa was expensive and the supply was limited. But something changed in my plans and I postponed the idea to buy a motorcycle until now.

Imagine my surprise when I googled Minsk and found these motorcycles

But even more changes happened in my life – my wife Hanna became obsessed with motorcycles. She was the first one to go and the the motorcycle driving license. So, she is the first mover in our family and I am a fast follower. In December 2013 when Hanna had a birthday I decide to give her a good memorable present – KTM Duke 390

This is an awesome motorcycle. We have tons of enjoyment riding it in the streets of Kiev. This year we have early spring and we are lucky to spend some evening every week riding this magnificent KTM Duke. I highly recommend KTM as a motorcycle brand.

Educating my daughter

My daughter Mariia will be turning 7 this October. This means that starting from September 1, she will go to school. It happened so that my wife and I decided that Mariia will get the base education in Ukraine. Educational system in Ukraine may be a subject of a separate post, so much can be said about it. Anyway, I made a decision that starting from 9th grade Mariia will go to study to Europe and then to the US to get her Bachelors and Masters. Maybe something will change  in the course of time.

What I actually wanted to say is that Mariia started reading when she was still 5. She read in Russian and Ukrainian first. Right now she can read in English as well. Probably there is no more happy and proud father than I am. Observing how children grow up, evolve and develop is the best happiness one can get. There were times, though, when I could not understand that. But times change…

An interesting feeling when your child comes home  from a kindergarten with a poem assigned to learn by heart. But there is no need to do this, because your child can read, learn and recite it herself. Great feeling!

Reading aloud with my daughter is a kind of a ritual in our family. This all started when Mariia was a baby. Nowadays its a good habit that we practice every evening. First I was the only one to read. Now my daughter reads to me. This way we spend our evenings in a healthy, warm family environment.
